Lifting chains Loler

Post by donnyrover »

The lifting chains have still not been sent for or had their Loler checks carried out, they ran out in December, and consequently the pway team and others cannot do any lifting or movement whatsoever with the chains. We have old rail to move from the platform area to tidy this area up before opening.
Can someone on the board take this up and get these chains checked?

I think it's now our policy to only test the equipment we think we will be using in the next 6 months. To my mind that would be limited to the yellow rail clamp and lifting chain, one two legged yellow and blue lifting chain and associated shackle, the two long green lifting straps, and perhaps the short two purple lifting straps . I think anything else will be out of test before it's needed
If anyone thinks of anything else we will shortly be needing can they please add it to the list.

Also requiring test are the 2 concrete sleeper specialised lifting chains obtained by Skipper and are in the pway container on top of the bag containing chains.

There needs to be always at least one 1/2 T chain block in certification, in case the rods or something else needs to be removed from Eddie. As long as there is a shackle and two soft slings, that should suffice.
