Look how massive the coal drops were, and the loco shed is quite long for a narrow shed!

...and the spur off to Woolgrowers.
Onwards and upwards.

Was the bacon factory either not built or just really small when the first photo was taken? It doesn't look to be there?

I believe the bacon factory was built in the early 1970’s but I might be wrong on this as it could have been earlier!

Don’t forget that there was a Bacon Factiry siding Chris. It was built around 1950, in the light coloured triangular field at the end of the allotments in the top photo.

Re: Aerial views Malton & Scarborough Rd Junction
Yes your right as I was doing some research on the internet this evening and there was a information going back to the origins of 1950.
It’s one of North Yorkshire biggest employers and in the area and has changed hands with various companies throughout the years now Karro ltd!
With reference to Malton station I can remember the over al roof still being intact there when I was a very young boy! Seems such a shame it wasn’t restored rather than being demolished!

I used to own the key to the Bacon Factory siding which turned up at Malton auction many years ago. The first OS map it appears on is 1950, when it had two very long sidings adjacent to the M&DR; this is how I represented it on my simulation.
