Many of you may already by aware, but for those that aren't, please join us in welcoming the newest addition to the YWR fleet - Patricia!
After 2.5 years of discussion, preparation, risk assessments, method statements and countless hours of work from many of our members, the YWR finally took delivery of its 2nd locomotive on 24 June.
Patricia is a 424 series 0-6-0 Fowler shunter that is powered by a 6 cylinder, Rolls Royce 12 litre, supercharged engine.
We were very fortunate and grateful that South Cave Tractors where on hand to give us assistance. They brought a brand new road-rail Unimog which proved invaluable in us getting the locomotive out.
Now on site, the really hard work can begin of getting the locomotive back in to regular use at it new home at Fimber Halt. The locomotive is not in poor shape, but does need work on all aspects of the mechanical side to get it to a serviceable position. The first priority being to ensure the cab is watertight once again by fitting new windows and seals all round.
To support the restoration, a new fund raising campaign has been launched called “Fund The Fowler” and we need your help to raise the £6000 needed to complete the mechanical restoration.
Anyone wishing to donate to “Fund the Fowler” can do so by visiting https://www.yorkshirewoldsrailway.org.u ... he-fowler/
Thank you for your support!

Re: New addition to the YWR Fleet
I see that fund the Fowler has been going for a month now. The donations came rolling in quickly but has now stagnated at just over £200.
How else can we push this good cause?

I will keep mentioning it on Facebook, but we need to be careful we don't push it everyday or people will get bored of it - in my opinion.

Could we not do it something like a Christmas gift certificate.
Where if someone donates a certain amount of money as gift for someone, then we will issue them a Christmas certificate and thank you.
