How to use the forum

Post by 4008 »

This forum is a great way to find out what is happening both on and off site at the YWR.

Clicking on each heading will open up many subsections detailing a variety of different topics. These topics contain numerous details such as information about the YWR, its history, photographs and even a quiz or two!

A really good topic to give you a flavour of what we are about is WORK IN PROGRESS. You can find this by looking in the PUBLIC FORUM - then under the subheading of - THE PROJECT - Then WORK IN PROGRESS (under the announcements section at the top). You can find this directly by following this link: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1404

Remember, following this link will take you straight to page 1 of the work in progress topic from way back in 2013! At the time of writing this, there are 53 pages, and you can jump to any page you like by clicking the numbers at the top right of the topic.

Whilst you can view any of the public forums, should you wish to comment or participate in the forum discussions, you will need to register. Registration is quick, easy and free! Simple instructions on how to do this can be downloaded by following the link below.

Once registered, if you are still a little unsure as to how to post to the forums, we have created a specific test area. This will allow you to "have a play". You can find this area in PUBLIC FORUMS - then under the subheading of TEST AREA. You can find this directly by following this link: viewforum.php?f=14

As a non-member, you will only have access to the public forums, but should you decide to join the YWR, you will gain access to a dedicated members section which will give details on all the volunteering slots available to participate in. Additionally, you will gain more of an insight in to the working of East Yorkshires only heritage railway.

You can join the YWR by following this link - http://www.yorkshirewoldsrailway.org.uk ... -a-member/

Thank you for your interest in the Yorkshire Wolds Railway!

Now is a great time to make use of the forum - be you a member with full membership access, or a visitor.

The forum is a great way to learn and chat about all things YWR related. We understand that the operation of the forum can be quite daunting, but we are here to help with any query you may have from the simple to the complex. I am by no means an expert, but will try and help where possible!

As a start you have probably all realised that when a new post goes on, it is shown in a different colour, however, if you do not go on for a few days these can get lost. A really quick and easy way to see all the "unread posts" is to click on the "QUICK LINKS" at the top right of the screen, and then click on "unread posts". This will show all the posts that you have not currently read and allow you to read at your leisure!

This is locked down by our web developer to keep hosting costs as low as possible. However, please feel free to send any file you would like uploading to Matthew@yorkshirewoldsrailway.org.uk and I'll sort it.

I appreciate that it's maybe not ideal, but it's in the interest of saving money!

Thanks!
