I have been working on the loco seats recently as they have had a habit of collapsing due to their hinge fixings becoming bent over time.
This is the bent part:
After a bit of thought, I decided to try a rod between the hinges so that there wouldn't be scope to bend. This is the completed secondman's seat; it's at a much better angle.

Re: Work in Progress
I got two 10mm rods cut to length & then threaded at the ends with suitable washers & nuts:
The springs are back in place, but I have not connected them to prevent the seat from flipping up when someone is trying to sit on it!
Just the driver's seat to do now..

Re: Work in Progress
If there are any upholsterers out there who can offer their services & re-cover these seats & backrests, we would be very grateful!

Re: Work in Progress
The workshop looks like Santa's Grotto with tits Christmassy lights! Ive become one of Santa's little helpers!!
The lights are actually fabulous and its now possible to work in there even with the doors shut. Many thanks to Paul for his great work.
On a photographic technical point I couldn't get the lights exposed so you can see each individual LED. Would need Mathew's expertise to get the right shot to show just how Christmassy they look.

Re: Work in Progress
Another good day for the Wednesdayites at Fimber Halt. Two projects have been completed. Malcolm gave the loco access steps their final coat of paint after I completed the repairs at the weekend. New step treads have been added as the others had rusted. These new ones are of duralumin so will not rust.
I worked in the shop, fitting the new splash backs covered in white coated steel to comply with environmental health requirements.
Makes the shop look even smarter!

Work is progressing with the latest van body restoration. Andy has been removing the old rivets and replacing them with temporary bolts until the new angle iron arrives.
