A pic or two from today's working session - preparation for planting of new saplings along the site boundary following the YWR's recent successful bid for these courtesy of our Chairman, James Russell.

The other image shows the fairly recent new sign at the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Fimber picnic site alerting visitors to the site's significance as host to the remains of the former Sledmere & Fimber railway station and it's links with the Royal Family.

With all due respect if we're going to wait until we have met all the conditions of the planning then we will never open as the planning "Notice of Decision" specifically states that "The development hereby permitted shall be carried out in accordance with the following approved plans" and goes on to list all the plans submitted with the application. These plans, amongst other things, show an empty space where we have put our running line, the perimeter fence following a different line from the one we have erected and a platform 50m x 4m in size.

There has indeed been some variation in terms of the detail on site, but the substantive elements of the development are broadly in line with the planning application ie: for a visitor centre, car park, platform and associated items. The major element that is currently missing is the landscaping, which will be addressed over the next couple of weeks with the arrival of the trees donated by the Woodland Trust. The points you raise have been extensively discussed at our committee meetings, advice has been taken, and we are confident that we are working within the limits defined by our planning consent.
