I I would think that the number of volunteers on site yesterday must be a YWR record for a Wednesday, if someone had turned up selling ice creams and magnums, they would have been quids in!

That reminds me Andy that long ago an ice cream seller came on site offering to have his van on site when we are open. I gave his details to committee at the time. Mind you I don't think it would be worth his while with our visitor numbers at present.

Great to see the progress & I'm sure the children will have fun with the bowling alley.

Wednesday 31st May was another good day at Fimber Halt. Work started on cutting the support timbers for VB3 whilst the vertical steels got a bit of a trim.

Brian and Dave gave a lot of attention to the trailer van with the hole in the side repaired and a new bit of flooring. Only the welding to be done to complete the job. This was done on Saturday by Phil and Keith and the van will be ready for use at the Sledmere Nostalgia weekend 24th and 25th June.

The trailer's rear frame was repaired on Saturday by welding fillets into each corner. The end result is not perfect as it's settled a bit, but it is much better & the doors close reasonably well now. Here's a picture of Keith measuring up:

Hopefully the trailer will be ready for Sledmere's Nostalgia Sunday on 26th June.

It really now needs a clean & the awning should be tried out, or at least unzipped & the cover cleaned up. If anyone would like to do this, please post on this thread or in the members' volunteering section; you would be welcome to come down to the site. There are usually work parties on Wednesdays & Saturdays, weather permitting & of course we are open on a Sunday, too.

You must be a volunteer to work on site, but you can join on the day!

Good days work on van body three today. With help from John all the floor support timbers have been treated against rot and woodworm and the steel has been painted with anti rust paint. I know it looks a bit gaudy but non of it will show when the job's done.
