MK1 Electrics

Keith, Richard and myself have been working on the mains electric supply to the MK1.

Keith has provided a cable supply from the Generator through to the north end of the MK1 and connected it into a power socket behind Santa's grotto.

Richard and I have run a cable through the ducting on then ceiling of the MK1 to the junction box where the solar power connects to the coach.

We have also run conduit to supply power from this junction box to the model railway and prepare for connection to the lighting planned for the velocipede. We will be putting another cable through to the video suite

A busy day on site today
We welcomed a new member into the pway team Simon from the Levisham group.
We started on the removal of the redundant rail in the platform area.
All the rails were turned out today and three replacement 60fts were turned back in on the road side and a lined.
We then removed the chair screws on the double chairs , these will be replaced with single chairs S1s.

Saturday 6th January. What a cracking day even though we got wet and cold, the hard work kept us from pneumonia ;)
After the excellent propriety work on Wednesday, it was up to Saturday's Pway gang to replace some rail.
First of all, we straightened the slightly wobbly rails to the West. This was to be used as a gauge to install the Eastern rails.
The eastern side already had the check chairs unscrewed ready for single chair installation. So, single chairs had to be picked up from the yard and each chair placed in position on each sleeper.
Redundant holes were plugged. Easy to type, exhausting to do!
Each replacement rail was rotated into it's correct alignment with two chairs installed on the rail (upside down).
The rail was then lifted and the remaining chairs slid into position.
Gauge up, drill and screw each chair and we are done for the day.
We realised that a few sleepers needed shifting, otherwise the rail joint would be on a sleeper. Shifting ballast is also a back breaking job. Come and have a go if you think you are 'ard enough. ;)
It's so rewarding to look back to see what we have accomplished.
We are not finished yet though. Plenty of work to continue before finished in the platform area.
Today's gang were, Dave, Steve, Brian, Ed, Maffers, Simon and Lee.
Keep in touch everyone. We even had visitors interested to find out what is happening and generously donated after a quick tour by me, Matthew (Maffers). Don't be afraid! Pop in and say Hello if people are about.

These lads are the bees knees. You can’t have a railway without rails so these lads are at the top of the tree when you talk about volunteers.
You can’t have a railway without money and they even managed to raise a donation today as well.

Great work from great guys!!
