Class 03 D2051 for sale.

Please take time to post a message about your memories of the Malton to Driffield railway. No matter how small they are, it is always great to hear stories from the past.

Having provision for Vac stock in future should be on the strategic development list, hull and Barnsley are VAC stock so it may be useful to ask MPD to cost out what would be required to provide vac on Patricia!

It has been mentioned in other threads that we should be working to provide the important developments that enable a increase in income, visitor interest/dwell time and also open up better working conditions/opportunities, at the moment to me that is access to events field, Shed and welfare provision

the field 1/2 development and all that goes with that, surveys, layout drawings, shopping lists, filling the donation bucket for welfare cabin should continue to receive as much energy as possible, pushing the track length towards the next UWC at the end of field 2 should be a ongoing effort as its a visible yearly development that our supporters can enjoy and be part of.

Having another ex hull locomotive would be nice but not totally necessary most of the interactions we get on the engineering social page are Hull based from the stats given by the platform, but its likely to be a desire and not a need.

There are other potential development opportunities but are not feasible due to a lack of a willing or a capable management team and is also dependent on the local authority still being favourable on the management the picnic site.

Ed, you are absolutely right and the railway needs to spend its own money on track and infrastructure as a priority.
So this is where private / group purchase and ownership of locos and rolling stock comes in, and the YWR will need to embrace this, as has 95% of other heritage railways, for a very good reason.
For instance, how many locos or wagons do the DVLR or the Linc Wolds actually own? Who brought them to these railways?
The only way that I can see steam coming to the YWR is via private ownership, if we can make the railway attractive enough.
