Facilities....

Please take time to post a message about your memories of the Malton to Driffield railway. No matter how small they are, it is always great to hear stories from the past.

Facilities....

Post by Rail Rover »

Not the M&DR , but 'Memories of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway' ;)

As the YWR develops we try to continuously improve the Visitor experience & also the facilities that are available for both the public & the volunteers. Weighing up what we can do with the limited resources that we inevitably have is always difficult, especially when we started with absolutely nothing!

To have just a tiny proportion of the facilities of some of the 'big' heritage railways takes a long time & a lot of effort. I was therefore interested to find this Summer 1972 picture recently, showing the NYMR's coal-loading procedure in their early days before their tower at Grosmont. I'm not sure it would be allowed today!

Sure does look like a lot of hard work, but it would undoubtedly keep you warm on a day like today. :D :D
