Volunteer Run Heritage Railways

Post by 4008 »

Hello

Everyone is doubtless aware that the YWR is a wholly volunteer run heritage railway with no paid staff whatsoever.

Does anyone know of any others like that?

You will have also noted that we recently put a call out for volunteers that have previous heritage or mainline locomotive and rolling stock maintenance experience. Currently, we have had little response.

I would like to ask if anyone is aware of anyone who could assist with this role, OR knows how other heritage railways in a similar position manage?

Finally, there may be a reason as to why "someone" is not coming forward for the role. If that is the case, please either comment below, or email matthew@yorkshirewoldsrailway.org.uk

I look forward to reading your replies!

Thanks

Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway is also a wholly volunteer run railway.

https://www.chinnorrailway.co.uk/

Their catchment area is greater and so have circ 5x the active volunteers as ourselves.
