If someone pays £720 then by definition that's what it's worth.

Absolutely correct.

Plus of course if someone won it for £720 then that means there was at least one other person prepared to pay £700 for it too who dropped out of the bidding at that point.

It was worth what the buyer wanted to pay! But I know it’s way way to expensive

I was happy for them to think it was worth that because I was selling it :lol: But it was only "worth" that because of the rarity of the station and my point was that the buyer wasn't sure that was where it came from until I said it was. About 10 years ago I was offered a crusty old handlamp brass plated "NER" "Burdale" and "M&DR"and he wanted £900 for it. Would it sell for that in auction ? Probably. Did I buy it ? No.

I wonder how much an M&DR brick would fetch now- I have 1 and a 1/2 of them!!!!!
