Unusual workings

Please take time to post a message about your memories of the Malton to Driffield railway. No matter how small they are, it is always great to hear stories from the past.

Unusual workings

Post by john »

I was wondering if anyone has knowledge/details of unusual train workings along the line in years gone by? I know there was the royal visit to Fimber and Sledmere in 1948, but does anyone know of any others, royal or otherwise?

Unusual workings were certainly the train in the snow after the line had closed, Queen Victoria is supposed to have visited but there doesn't seem to be any evidence anywhere and Churchill is supposed to have stayed the night in the tunnel again no evidence. Whe George V visited Sledmere he came by road.
