One last post.

Whilst all the demolition was going on Richard and Ed (who handed over to Skipper to drive the JCB) spent some time with a laser level doing preparatory surveying of field two.

A significant day for the Yorkshire Wolds Railway today with the start of deliveries of further track and materials to the Fimber Halt visitor centre from Drax power station. It was very heartwarming to see the first of the kindly and generously donated materials arriving and also the reaction from passing motorists!

The materials will in due course be utilised in extending the railway's running line southwards and also creating some siding space in which to store railway vehicles when not in use or undergoing maintenance and restoration by volunteers, safely away from the running line.

Some photos from today.....

As well as track being delivered, other things happened today! Our Fimber Halt signs were taken down and Neil Anderson took them home to Aike to refurbish them. We were obviously sold some less than durable so called marine ply when they were made three years ago as they have badly rotted which should not be the case with marine ply. Neil is having to dismantle them, rebuild with good quality marine ply and then do the sign writing, all over again.

It was indeed a great day today, i and Andy Barwick were at Drax supervising the materials, we managed to get 5 lorry loads of track with sleepers, 1 ton bags of fish plates, bolts, bullhead track clips and 4 boxes of track chairs, and level crossing mats on site today and i am sure i have forgotton some things off the list there was so much of it. I will be at Drax tomorrow to collect the remaing track, track chairs, bolts, crossing mats and a huge amount of bullhead and flat bottom 30ft and 20ft loose track. Should be another fabulous day.
