37175 waiting for the green at Hunmanby with the 3Q91 York - York via Malton, Scarborough, Bridlington, Hull and Selby. Always nice to have some classic English Electric traction down the 'Wolds Coast'... even if it is at an unsociable hour!

Re: It's not all Units!
September, October and November sees the return of Rail Head Treatment Trains along the Wolds Coast, utilising 2 x class 20s, the circuit runs on a Monday, Wednesday and a Friday starting off at York before heading out to Sheffield, Wakefield, Grimsby, Hull and then Bridlington. The 3rd November saw a change to the original diagram and the train's run was extended up to Filey, before reversing and heading back to York. The top image sees the consist heading north through Filey to then reverse shortly after the level crossing, then the following image is taken after reversal and the consist is now on its way back to York.
It's a shame the Wolds Coast only sees regular loco hauled action during these three months, this may all change next 'leafall' season however with speculation of alternative Rail Head Treatment Trains being used... which would essentially be a flat wagon with a cab at one end of each vehicle.

Nice shots Tom - lovely to see Filey's roof still looking good. A pity Driffield station lost it's roof all those years ago.

Talking of loco hauled, what's this thing about class 68s and Mk 5 coaches operating out of Scarborough station ? I understand TransPennine (is this correct ?) are wanting to build a new servicing depot in sidings at Scarborough which has upset steam charter operators apparently as the scheme would clash with the charter train platform access at Scarborough.

Cheers Rob, an irresistible chance with these making a 'rare' appearance at Filey and them having familiar crew on. The reverberation under the roof was excellentRob wrote:Nice photos as always Tom.

Cheers Phil, aye yes! A bit of a strange scenario with Filey's being refurbished, still it makes for a nice photo!..Rail Rover wrote:Nice shots Tom - lovely to see Filey's roof still looking good. A pity Driffield station lost it's roof all those years ago.

Aye yes Ivan, construction is underway with the new Mk5s, oh well... least there'll be a proper loco hauled service to Scarborough rather than a steam loco on the Scarborough Spa charters etc...Turnip Town wrote:Talking of loco hauled, what's this thing about class 68s and Mk 5 coaches operating out of Scarborough station ? Not quite the Wolds Coast... but close enough.
67005 'Queen's Messenger' is seen slowing for the crossover at Gilberdyke whilst working 1Z90 Thrybergh Jn - Hull. 67006 'Royal Sovereign' is on the rear. The train is in the process of taking the Queen from London to Hull to allow her to view the Siemens factory.

Late on 11/01/2018 and then into the early hours of 12/01/2018 saw 56105 work up from Doncaster to Scarborough, the consist included welded rail lengths which would later be craned off of the wagons at various points between Seamer and Scarborough station itself. It certainly makes a nice change from the usual units... and nicer sounding than most! After dropping its train off opposite the turntable, the 56 is seen halfway through the 'run-round' procedure at Scarborough station.
