The fence looks great, just back from the North Sea, so will be down to lend a hand next week.

Two or three pics from this afternoon's activities. I was joined by Richard, after his stint on the stand at the Sledmere Nostalgia Weekend, so the more hands on deck the merrier!

Here's a pic or two of the latest work on the plant bed. Richard was hard at work putting in further plants when I arrived on Wednesday evening and he informed me that we had kindly and generously been donated some plant stock by the Sledmere Estate's head gardener to add to what we had on site already so a big thank you to all concerned!

Work on site is still streaking ahead with further preparation of the exterior of the coach for painting in blood & custard livery and great progress with the trackside fencing which is more than half way from it's start point near the coach to the buffer stops.

A pic or two from yesterday.....

Bodywork repairs continue to the coach exterior steelwork including cutting further pieces of replacement panelling and further rubbing, priming and filling. Work has also started just under the roof line on the coach end.

Further progress has been made with the restoration of the coach exterior with the rubbing down of nearly all the existing filler and more of the famous red oxide primer appearing. Although the coach does have something of a spotty appearance, it is also pleasing to observe an increasing absence of rusty marks and holes that previously covered considerable areas of the bodywork and instead sizable areas looking ready for blood and custard! :)

Although requiring some further replating at the bottom, nevertheless after rubbing down existing filler and a coat of primer, this door certainly looks closer to being of exhibition standard.

Although patchy looking, note the increasing lack of rusty spots!

Just a couple from today:

Ed brought & operated a "Skid-steer" to move the new ballast along the track, whilst John & Keith put new fence posts in.

A couple of pics to illustrate how the plant bed volunteers constructed earlier this year has really started to bloom - compare these pics with the earlier ones on this thread from 4th July!
